Dear Weary Soul,
The world is a tough place to be right now, and we are all in it . . . sharing the space, sharing the air, sharing the time.
It’s easy to feel so overwhelmed that we stop seeing each other, because we are each stuck trying to make it through the day. Sometimes we feel like everyone is treating us as if we are invisible. Sometimes it’s painful to see the pain in others, and so we just behave as if everyone else is invisible.
Sometimes we have used every last bit of our energy just to survive, so when the time comes to interact with each other we have nothing left but shortness, harshness, and the bare minimum of communication to get our point across. Short messages without a bit of humanity attached can leave us all feeling tired and wounded.
What if we just tried a little tenderness, no matter how we are feeling?
What if we spoke to others in the way that we are most needing to be spoken to?
Each of us is fighting a battle inside not many know about, and maybe no one knows at all. It may seem as though others are treating us with a lack of care and consideration when in fact they may simply just be trying to survive.
Instead of taking things personally, we can turn things around and treat everyone with tenderness, care, and respect. We can look each other in the eye, we can take time to have a real conversation, and we can make sure we leave others feeling better than we found them.
It is worth it . . . even if only for a day. We just might find that a day treating others with tenderness, without any expectation, could end up being one of the best days of our life . . . and will make the world a better place. Just try, you will see.
You are loved beyond all words,
